About

Welcome to the creations of Ferne Merrylees

Thanks for taking a peek into my world.

It sometimes seems so hectic but who would want it any other way?

Anyway, about me. I’ve lived on the Central Coast in New South Wales, Australia since I started
kindergarten so many years ago. I completed my 6th year at Gosford High
School in 2005 having completed the HSC. I was born on the 27th
September 1987 and my parents, Gaye and Clyde, moved out this year leaving me with my partner, Ben,
and my younger brother William whilst my younger sister, Storme, is on exchange in Germany for a year. I have two adorable
(yet some what insane) cats, Nala and Sarabi and a tank full of tropical fish.

Writing is like having a good sneeze, releasing tension and all those icky
emotions that I dangerously bottle up and sometimes unleash on
unsuspecting victims. I’ve never not written. Looking back on stories I wrote in primary school (I was so proud that they were longer than 40 pages in size 20 font) it is often amusing to see how my brain function then. It’s almost better than writing in a journal everyday as with every passing year I am now beginning to notice the change in my writing style. (Hopefully for the better.)

Yet I’ve never really written a story where you have it all planned out then fill in the dots, that’s just not the way my mind works.

Sure I have a vague idea where I want the plot to go, but as it writes
itself I get a thrill as it involves me just like I hope it does my
readers.

Anyway, I turn 22 this year and have completed one and a half years of a
Bachelor of Arts at the University of Newcastle (with flying colours
may I add so modestly). I want to major in English and Writing.

That’s all about me, summed up in a few paragraphs. Oh! And my favourite colour is blue!
